I’ve had a long journey with my shoes. From high school and even college where I didn’t know a thing about shoes to now where I am a over-educated shoe snob. This shoe for me marks what I hope will be my final return to the neutral shoe. I do not intend to ever run in stability shoes or use orthodics ever again(can you tell i’ve read Born To Run?)
LOOK
I love the flashy orange and red(even though I got some snickers from them while back in Jersey this past Thanksgiving). The colors are going to change in the update next fall to the Nightlife colors. The red will change to black and the orange accents will change to the bright neon green. I like the current colors better.
FIT
The fit of Brooks shoes are what I love. They all have that stiff non-slipper like feel which I really like. They feel like they can take a beating while still supporting my foot. This shoe feels just like any other Brooks in that way.
FEEL
This guy is SOFT! Brooks shoes tend to be stiffer than the average shoe but it is much softer than any other Brooks shoes I’ve had. It feels like a soft DS-Trainer. I’ve done some tempo, races and even long runs on them on roads and trails with no issues.
PRICE
80 bucks!
DURABILITY
The first pair I had lasted me 250 miles. A buddy got his to 300 before switching. I usually get less than the avg person from shoes. I weight 165 and am 6′3″ so I may get less out of a shoe than someone who is 5′9″ 135 lbs
Like I said before I have run many types of runs in this shoe. I really like it for racing half and full marathons(I’ve only raced a 5 miler in them but known people who have run the full in them with no issues). I also like it for tempo and easy runs. I think I am going to keep searching for a slightly cushier shoe for my long runs.
